According to THR, Eggers’ next movie will officially release on December 25, 2026, marking yet another high-profile Christmas Day release for the director. This follows on the heels of Nosferatu, which also released on Christmas, and has so far gone on to be a smash hit, earning more than $150 million at the global box office.
THR’s report on the movie notes that the movie, titled Werwulf, will indeed be a werewolf horror movie, and will see Eggers write the project alongside his frequent collaborator Sjón, who also co-wrote The Northman with Eggers. Eggers will re-team with Focus Features, who he worked with on Nosferatu, for Werwulf.
Details for the project are mostly unknown as of now, but the project will be set in 13th-century England, and much like Eggers’ other projects, will feature dialogue and settings accurate to the period. Original rumors suggested the film would be in black and white, according to THR, but that won’t be the case.
